How to Sell Your House in Portland, Oregon

I love helping my clients sell their Portland homes, and I have a 100% dialed-in process to prepare your home for the market and sell it fast and for the most money!

In this video, I walk you through my process, step by step:

Watch the video for ALL the details, but if you want a quick snapshot of what it’s like to sell a home with me, here are the main takeaways:

1. Let’s Take a Tour

When you know you’re ready to sell your home, I’m going to come over to your house and take a tour of it! During this walk through, I want to know everything you love about your house. I want you to show it off to me!

2. Pricing Your House

After the tour, I’m going to do a fair amount of research so I can price your home appropriately for this market. I’m going to take several things into account as I do this, including comparable sales, the neighborhood, the condition of your house, and the time of year. It’s intense!

3. Prepping Your House for Primetime

It’s so essential to do some prep work on your house to make sure it shines on listing day. After touring your house and checking everything out, I’ll give you a list of things you need to do to prepare your house. Don’t worry about getting it all done on your own—have have ALL the connections to contractors, cleaners, landscapers, etc. to make sure this whole process is as stress-free as possible.

4. Choosing a List Date

Once we decide on the ideal date to list, we’ll work backwards from that date to figure out what else needs to be done and when it needs to be done.

5. Staging Makes All the Difference

I LOVE staging! Staging takes your house from GOOD to GREAT. And we want great. I am proud to say that I work with the very best stagers. Getting your home staged will show off your home in its best light and help it to stand out among all the other listings. These days, buyers shop for homes online, and the first thing they’ll see is the photography and videography. So of course, I make sure we get gorgeous professional photos and a video tour of your home. Buyers these days are used to Instagram and Pinterest; they’re accustomed to seeing stylized spaces, and your home is going to measure up!

6. Fulfill Your Buyers Pinterest Dreams… It’s Launch Day!

First impressions really do make a difference. Your home has to make the right first impression. The bigger splash you can make when your home hits the market, the more buyers you will attract right away. The more buyers you attract, the pickier you can be, and the more money you’ll get.

7. Accepting an Offer

After your home is listed, we’ll set an offer deadline. The more offers you receive, the more choices you have. What offer you accept will depend on your goals. Do you need a quick closing? Is your goal to get the most money? Based on your goals, we pick the offer that’s best for you and your situation.

8. Countdown to Closing

After you accept an offer, the countdown to closing day begins; around here, this takes on average 30 days. Depending on the offer you accepted, there can be inspections, negotiations on repairs or credits, appraisals, etc. On closing day, you can have the buyer take possession, and they’ll get their keys at 5pm that day. Or you might have negotiated to close with rent back (to learn more about what this situation might look like, check out this video!

9. Getting Your Money

Closing is when you’ll finally get your moolah! Typically, you’ve arranged with your title company to get your money wired directly into your bank account. This usually arrives 1-2 business days after closing.

I love making all the puzzle pieces come into place to create a beautiful picture for my clients. Whether you want to sell soon or sell next year, let’s make a plan now! Reach out to me here to get the conversation started.
